News - September 2011

Welcome to the Missing Link Summer Newsletter.

School and family holidays are in full swing, as are many Missing Link friends and performers!

Missing Link was in evidence at Glastonbury, where a plethora of highlights every day at this fabulous festival of The Arts, saw such delights as Fair Play's 'Fairly Fresh
Fish', Steve Kaos and Thomas Trilby and their stilt bikes, Larkin' About with the wonderful 'Granny Turismo', Original Mixture and their puppets, Titan the Robot, Fairly Famous Family's Lifeguards weren't disappointed when they got there. Good quality banter and interaction from this lot.

As is so often the case with our friends, hard work and dedicated fun produced great performances from Virtigo Stilts, Legendary Lynn's 'Merpeople', Other Half Productions and their French Tea Maid and Butler, Flying Buttresses, Artemis' 'Prince Mint and The Glam Chops', Stickleback Plasticus's 'St Joan's Ambulance'.

Unusually, Opera has dominated the past few months here at Missing Link. Performers Opera on the Run were invited to perform The Perfect Picnic at the Bloomsbury theatre with the English National Opera Community Choir and both Sam Veale and (T)hat Juggler performing at Glyndebourne for the acclaimed production of Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nuremburg.

In the meantime, Gandini Juggling have developed their new show "Smashed" in residency at the impressive Circus building in La Brèche in Cherbourg and this will be premiering 2012 London International Mime Festival.

Congratulations to Lina from Mimbre on the birth of baby Ronja.

New to the website this month are the beautiful aerial, hula hooping and stilts act from Arabesque - who can supply if required their own eye-catching aerial rig.

Stilt walking Bridie, the Irish Tea Lady from Rin Tin Tin has some great new images of her serving the masses at that Victorian Iconic building Leadenhall Market.

Award winning magician Romany has some splendid new illustrations to add to her page of the website.

Burlesque Bombshell and starlet Roxy Velvet this month reveals her 1940's wartime act, while Ruby Blues adds the “Glam” into “Glam Rock” with her pink guitar Burlesque Cabaret show.

Gorgeous aerial hoop and silks entertainer Colette Morrow has new images of her starring in Love Never Dies and further images of her while on tour with Take That.

Dynamic aerial athlete Petra Lange has new images of her Corde Lisee act 'Wrong Number' on her page of the site, while The 2 Men invite us to share in their cultivated earthy wisdom gained from the many seasons and experiences of their 2 Wise Men.

We also are pleased to see new images of the street dance team, Breakdancers Methods of Movement. Their energy and rapport with their audience are both a major feature of this act.

Quote of the Month

"We are in a time of great transition and change. The existing norms and values of modern-day society are being called into question, and new perspectives and approaches are needed. But what should our foundation be? ...Respect for human dignity and the sanctity of life." Daisaku Ikeda
