News - Autumn 2012

Welcome to the Missing Link October Newsletter.

What a busy summer it has been!  Never mind the sixteen weeks of solid rain from April to August, the build up to the brilliant Jubilee celebrations across the UK put the entertainment industry back at the forefront of people’s minds – just in time for all those Olympic celebrations across the country throughout the summer which firmly placed UK Circus onto the world stage.

Despite the rain, Missing Link were never watered down, or drowned out, but surfed the crest of the waves of water and fun. In fact we have been surfing everywhere!  Performers from All Tied Up, Amazon, Mark Tate's Screaming Me Mes, Caroline Parker, Feeding the Fish and Surface Tension performed in the Olympics and Paralympics opening and closing ceremonies. Well done to all for their magic, that helped to make us all proud to be part of this great industry!

At Glynbourne’s world famous opera company’s production of La Boheme,  we had fire temptress Pyromantic performing, while on Justin’s House, we had special guest star (T)hat Juggler. Meanwhile,  Bavarian Pop Brass ensemble Oompah Brass had the honour of performing for the world famous Grenadier Guards prior to their departure for Afghanistan.

Congratulations to magician Robin Fox who magically produced a daughter, Scarlett, a trick that took just nine months to complete! Another stunning arrival from handbalancer Martha Harrison and (T)hat Juggler was their son Dexter who is a brand new addition to the circus family.

Loss of a Maverick
It is with deep sadness we say goodbye to our friend Luke Wilson who performed his final trick yesterday.  A man of absurdly wonderful skill, talent, creativity, humour, playfulness, kindness and a wonderful, wonderful entertainer.  So many people, ourselves very much included, will be eternally grateful our paths had a chance to flow at the same time and his skills and talent. Though the circus world has lost a great artist, Luke will continue to inspire and create work for generations to come.

The X(mas) Factor

We’d hate to be the first to mention it, but the nights are drawing in.  We already are becoming extremely busy with Christmas party bookings.  It is important to remember there are only really three weekends in December where everyone wants to run their parties; thus our entertainers are booked up very early.

For the opportunity to have the most superb entertainers you deserve at your Festivities, please contact us early for ideas about how to make all your wishes come true this season without having to leave a letter for Santa!

Quote of the Month

"If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart, I'll always be with you.”
Winnie the Pooh
