| Aurelia Cats...
Aurelia was born in Ares, France. She began studying at the Ecole Nationale du Cirque D’Annie Fratellini (a Paris circus school) at the age of eight after seeing the circus on television and falling in love with it.
She tried many traditional circus acts – dance, juggling, high wire, and acrobatic feats – before decided that her favorites were contortion and trapeze.
With the help of Annie Fratellini (who later became her godmother) and her teachers at the school, she developed a trapeze-contortion act. She began her professional circus career at the age of 14. Aurelia was the first woman to perform as a solo act in the most famous cabaret show in Paris.
Aurelia has judged two of the top circus festivals in the world – the Monte Carlo International Circus Festival and the Paris International Circus Festival. She also served on the jury of the 26th Festival Mondial du cirque de Demain.
She has won gold medals for outstanding performance in several circus festivals, including the 1989 Monte Carlo Festival for children, the 1995 Festival Mondial du cirque de Demain, and the 1996 Princessan Festival in Sweden.
She most recently appeared in the cabaret show Teatro Zinzanni. |
