Inspired by circus, capoeira, dance and theatre clown, "sprung" is a stunningly choreographed piece of street theatre, an extraordinary acrobatic story encapsulated within a musical voyage. With an elastic backdrop transforming the street, park or square into a stage, the visual beauty and humour of this piece communicates to a wide and varied audience. The show has been a huge success at street and theatre festivals throughout Europe. The cabaret piece performed with Mimbre's innovative style of fast flowing movement combined with outstanding acrobatic skills. Somersaults and other forms of flights combined with vaults, balances, pyramids and smiles, the performers staying human while accomplishing inhuman feats.
Mimbre has also been part of bigger productions, adapting their character and skills to different types of performance and venue, i.e trade shows at the NEC, comedia de'll arte at the Historic Regatta of Venice or dancer-acrobats in popvideos among others.
Mimbre - one of UK’s finest acrobatic street theatre company, offers a range of workshops for festivals, events and schools. Just as in mimbre’s performances, physicality will go hand in hand with creativity.
The workshops suit all abilities and backgrounds: professional performers, aspiring performers, complete beginners, adults, young people, and can last from one day to a whole week. They always tailor the workshop to the participant abilities to ensure that every-one learns new skills while having a great time! The workshops will be lead by two or three teachers, depending on the number of the participants:
-two teachers: maximum of 13-14 participants
-three teachers: maximum of 20 participants
This is to ensure the health and safety of the students, given the nature of the workshops (spotting and constant one-to-one feed back are essential!). The workshops can last between 2 and 5 hours each day.
Three enchanting ladies from an elegant and romantic past perform elaborate acrobatic tableaux in a quietly flirtatious manner. Contrasting delicate costumes with physical strength, these characters remain elusive and captivating as they make their acrobatic journey.
