MissingLinkProductions Newsletter January 2004...

News

Happy New Year to you all and welcome to the first Missing Link Newsletter of 2004.

The Xmas party season kept us on our toes! I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your parties and festivities.
You may have seen the wonderfully versatile Richard from Electric Cabaret on Jools Holland’s Hootenanny being Father Time for us with a large clock for a head. Thanks to Richard (and his neighbour) for the miraculously quick costume.

This week I shall be working at the Motor Show in Delhi with synchronised juggling act Feeding the Fish .Thom, Julie and this weeks new kid, Mikey Martins from Three Monkey Productions will be in the office as usual but we may be a bit more slow on emails, so it may be best to telephone us over the next fortnight.

As soon as I return we are straight into the Events Show at Olympia, where we look forward to meeting lots of you and putting faces to names. Brand new for the Events Show and for 2004 we have a new brochure out. If you would like a copy of this please drop us an email to new_brochure_please@circusperformers.com.

Congratulations to Roger Bunnage, the man behind our most charming robot Arbie, who has just gained his black belt in ju-jitsu. Arbie however is not so keen and is happy to stick to his patent leather one.

On a more serious performers note this month, we are on a mission this January to collect copies of everyone’s risk assessment and insurance documents as lots of them expired at the end of the year and our paperwork is not up to date. As you all know, we only get asked for risk assessments ten minutes before they are needed. It will therefore make all our lives a lot easier throughout the summer if we can get this sorted now. “Risk Assessment, what’s that look like?” we hear you ask. Well, ask us and we will send you a sample. THEN write your own and email it to us. NOW, please.

Web Site

We are on a continued mission to plough through the backlog of things to go up on the website (to correlate with our new brochure).

New to the website this month we have Cirque Bijou with an amazingly large wardrobe or stilt costumes and entertainers for every event.

There are lots of new pictures for acts on the site this month too.

Our sexiest stilt walkers, the bouncing goat boys and girls and breath taking balancers Heir of Insanity have some new pictures on their page of the site.

We have new pictures of our most flattering walkabout act The Complimentary Compliments Service comedy waiters with a surreal twist.

There are new pictures of our favourite cabaret act Caroline Parker, our amazing cabaret signed-song performer with pictures of her dynamic act.

There are new pics of Circo Rum Ba Ba's walkabout water themed stilts and act on their page of the site.
Acrobatic duo Fizziks have some new pictures of the versatile act added to the site.

The wonderfully funny comedy jugglers and monochrome walkabout act Curious Eyebrows have pictures of their street shows and cabaret acts.

Animalistic balancers and walkabout creatures from Bolli Darling are now on the site.

Our favourite street artist Jon Hicks has some new pictures of his truly unique street show.

Comedy Marilyn act Helen Kane has some pictures of her comedy tribute show 'Some Like it Hotter' on the site.
Our favourite fakir pixie girl Kamelyan has pictures of her Moulin Rouge with a twist piercing and fire show as well as pictures of her stilt costumes added to her page.

There are also pictures of Kwabana Lindsay and his rope walking and fire breathing which are new on the site.

And finally we have added a page of all our water themed performers to the themes section of the website to make those water theme parties that little bit easier to plan.

Featured Performer of the Month

A new section of the newsletter and a new section on the website is our Featured Performers area.
There are such a lot of high quality acts on the website it may be easy to miss some very talented performers.
We have created a Featured Performers section to profile performers who we not only enjoy watching but those who are always a pleasure to work with. The Featured Performers section is not the performers sales pitches but our own personal recommendations.

We launched this feature with the act who have so many incarnations and fantastic walkabout characters they inspired me to redesign the performers listing pages of the site a few months ago Brink of Distinction

One of my favourite acts to watch playing and interacting with the crowds at parties. I have never yet seen Brink of Distinction perform without leaving a trail of smiles behind them.

Their video shows how easily the Giant Penguins initiate a real sense of play in the streets - especially with the children, something I feel it is quite hard to evoke these days.

The Giant Garden Gnomes have a fantastic surreal naughtiness to them. Seeing them wondering around with their fishing rods and cheekily filling up their lunch boxes with free cake samples at a stand at the wedding fair made me grin from ear to ear.

They also have a new act, The Guide to Poise and Perfection, where three very elegant ladies glide around the room showing off the art of balancing a jelly upon one's head. If you are looking for something original for a glamorous event, these suave ladies have to be the height of sophistication.

Quote of the Month

Quote of the Month this month was a lovely comment sent to me by our lovely female close-up magic diva Romany, who in a fantastic Xmas spirit send me:

"Life is short. Eat dessert first."

Happy New Year to you all and may 2004 be happy, healthy and prosperous.
