MissingLinkProductions Newsletter March 2003...

News

Welcome to the March (and belated February) Missing Link Newsletter.  I hope all of you are having a fantastic 2003 so far.

January was an extremely busy month for us, catching up with everything on our return from Japan and coping with an extraordinarily busy month.

The lack of February newsletter was due to the fact that I worked right through Xmas and New Year and I needed some sunshine.  I have just spent a very relaxing few weeks in India - though it already feels like a long time ago!

At the end of January we exhibited at The Events Show where our performers got fantastic responses.  A huge thank you to our star magician Magic Matt, the ever enthusiastic and flattering Complimentary Complements Service, stunning juggler and ball spinner Sam Veale, the ever gorgeous Sweet Fairy Nika, the elegance of the Still Living Statues, the ever sexy moulin rouge stilt girls from Aerial Roots, fun and interactive juggling and walkabout from Browner, playful magic from Robin Fox, the beautiful stilt creations of The Wrong Size and last but not least, our wonderful ladies creating their own storm at the show, The Wind People from Rin Tin Tin.

I just managed to get off the plane from holiday when I was straight into the National Wedding Show.  Our stand attracted lots of great attention for people wanting to add something extra special to their special day.  Our fantastic entertainers at this show were the wonderful caricaturist Sarah Bailey from Caricatures Galore, Complimentary Complements Service had Lu and I in stitches, every mother in law's favourite robot Arbie (he is SUCH a charmer), the ever dextrous  Sam Veale, beautiful human statues from Still Living Statues, , the tallest stilt walking bride Trouble and Strife, circus workshops and walkabout from The Wobbly Juggling Company, the wonderful rent-a-granny team from Los Kaos, the hilarious Bridie from Rin Tin Tin is the best stilt walking waitress you could ever have at your wedding, and the ultimate guest for any event, the very sensitive Cyberstein who was getting very into the emotion of the event and squirting tears everywhere..

A big congratulations to Danny from The Complimentary Complements Service and Circo Ridiculoso, The Wrong Size for being awarded grants by The Circus Development Project whilst I was away.  Congratulations also to mime artists and human statues The Electric Cabaret for their grant to produce a new show.

A couple of mentions of shows coming up in London for those of you with free evenings.  Our very own trapeze artist Layla is starring in Shunt's production 'Dance Bear Dance' which won the Time Out Live Awards 2003 and is on until 11th May, 9pm Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Railway Arch, 12a Gales Gardens, close to Bethnal Green tube, E2.  The Telegraph quoted the show as "like being inside the head of a drunken genius".  The lovely Gavin Marshall has directed a new show by Linda Marlowe about the world's oldest wire-walker, who, upon the eve of her hundreeth birthday, looks back at her many careers as daring divorcee, raunchy rock chick, undercover operator, Amazonian adventurer, manic mother and professional free spirit.  This can be seen at the Hackney Empire March 14th and 15th.

There is a very special opportunity for performers wishing to do their bit to make people less fortunate than themselves smile.  Bill Brookman is organising a festival of street theatre in Kosovo 12th - 26th July this year..  Performers would need to find their own air fare (£150 - £350) and minimal expenses (about £50).  For anyone interested please contact us or Bill directly.

A good cause closer to home for those of you who are interested is 'Big Arts Week' which is 30th June - 4th July.  Anyone wishing to do workshops in schools during this time, please let me know.

An apology for an omission in our last newsletter.  On our trip to Japan in December as well as all our fantastic performers, we also took our wonderful rigger Will Cleary.  Sorry you were not mentioned before Will, it must have been the jetlag...

Web Site

Fantastic feathers and diamonds close up magician Romany has some new pictures on her page of the website.

The gorgeous sword swallower and female oddity Miss Behave has new pictures and information about her street show on the site.

Aerialist Petra Lange also has some beautiful new pictures of her act on her page.

Flamenco dancers Alma Flamenca have changed their company name to Maya Flamenca, and they have also added some new pictures to their page.

Last but not least Los Kaos have some new quotes on their page.

Gig of the Month

Gig of the month and another huge thank you to caricaturist Andy Davey and human statue Pamela Sinclair from Still Living Statues for performing at the Confetti Wedding Store for us to potential newly weds.

Quote of the Month

Quote of the month comes from the book I am currently reading and seems particularly appropriate to my recent holiday and the amount of emails I came back to:
"Such a long, long time to be gone...
and a short time to be there"

Robert Hunter

One last huge thank you to Lu and James for running everything so well whilst I was away, enabling me to have a really relaxing holiday and keep me off their backs!

Wishing you all a very peaceful and happy month,

Warmest Regards
