MissingLinkProductions Newsletter April 2002...
News
Welcome to spring!
Here in the UK, the sun has been shining, daffodils are out and
there is blossom on the trees - it really does feel like spring
is finally with us.
March was an astoundingly busy month for MissingLink. There was
a lot to catch up with on my return from Australia and there seem
to have been performances every weekend. It also seems that people
are ignoring the news forecasts and booking performers for what
looks to be a very busy summer.
One of the first shows this month was the 'Try Out Cabaret' as
part of The Circus Space Festival. (T)hat
Juggler performed his fantastic comedy hat juggling routine,
Will Cleary compered, performed their street acrobalance routine
and Claredeloon
performed a wonderful rope act - feathered and glittered to the
nines!
Also at The Circus Space was 'Day and Night' with two performances;
one by Gaynor Derbyshire which was a wonderfully uplifting contemporary
dance, aerial, breakdance and acrobatics display; the other by being
by David Eriksson and John-Paul Zaccarini - who never cease to be
a pleasure to watch. The performers complimented each other wonderfully
and the performance on the whole was very moving.
I went to the Hubble Bubble cabaret at the Union Chapel where the
lovely Layla
did a fantastic acrobalance and doubles trapeze routine with Jez
Houghton for the launch of Ojami's new album. I had a really fantastic
evening and their show made it that extra bit special.
The fantastic Caroline
Parker will be performing in 'Peeling', a new show from
Graeae Theatre Company at the Soho Theatre from 3rd - 13th April.
For further information please contact the box office on 0207 478
0100.
Los Kaos
have been doing a spot of comedy on BBC Radio Kent - do try and
catch that if you are down there.
Another job opportunity is that Winchester Hat Fair are looking
for some help in their office. For anyone with some spare time and
good office admin skills, this would be a great opportunity to take
part in the UK's oldest street festival. Please contact me for more
details.
Web Site
There are no new acts on the web site this month, but lots of new
pictures:
- Clive
Andrews, clown and comedy waiter has some new pictures of
his act.
- Maya
Flamenca also have new pictures of their glorious flamenco
dancers.
Gig of the Month
I helped out the Stratford Theatre Royal this month who put on
a show for refugees. The wonderful Bibi and Bichu performed and
I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Kerim and Mustafa at the
Kurdish Human Rights Project for all their help in arranging performers.
There is a benefit gig happening at the 100 club for the KHRP on
8th May. Performing at the event will be The Wild Angels, Mark Thomas,
Mark Steel and Boothby Graffoe amongst others. Tickets can be bought
on http://www.ticketweb.co.uk
and it is going to be a fantastic nights entertainment for a really
good cause. It is quite likely to sell out, so do make sure you
get a ticket.
Confiscation of the Month
Whilst filming for The Mark Thomas Product for Channel 4 last week
I had a security guard approach me and confiscate a banana skin
I was holding. He must have spotted that I was a potential slapstick
gag waiting to happen.
Thanks to everyone (from myself, Mark and Vera) who helped out
on the filming last week. Keep an eye out for yourselves on Wednesday
night.
I hope you all have a wonderful April.
Warmest Regards
Anna
