MissingLinkProductions Newsletter April 2004...

News

Welcome to the April Missing Link Newsletter.

Much of our time last month was taken up by our charity showcase in aid of circus2iraq.

People thronged to The Circus Space to see an amazing line up of stunning acts.  The high quality selection of the entertainers made me proud of the acts I represent. The show included:

Mimbre Amazing, upbeat female acrobatic trio -bringing a warm smile to opening the show
Caroline Parker - Inspirational signed song cabaret, which went down a storm
Jon Hicks - The rock and roll Rolf Harris bring Elvis to the masses
Helen Kane - Comedy Marilyn Monroe impersonator, and with cutting wit
(T)hat Juggler - Old-time vaudeville hat juggler, who improvised a fantastic routine
Melissa Merran - Glamourous ‘Moulin Rouge’ swinging trapeze which wowed the crowds
Fling - High impact fast paced acrobatic act
Strawberry - Consumate clowning and mischevious mayhem
Steve Falkner - Manic Mime and noisy crystal ball
Tumble Circus - Dynamic doubles trapeze to get the evening going
Woody Bop Muddy and his record graveyard, never look at rice in the same way again...

The evening was hosted by Mr Mike Martins, Mr John Stretch and with walkabout flattery from The Complimentary Compliments Service, the beautiful mix and mingle characters from Anonymous, and our very own cover-flirts Heir of Insanity.

The cabaret was to raise money for the circus2iraq project which is an amazing group of entertainers who are out in Iraq right now, doing shows for people, workshops for the kids and spreading smiles to areas where they have been lacking for some time now. Devilstick Peat who is currently our in Iraq at the moment had this to say about the cabaret:

"There ís this agent I use called MISSINGLINK PRODUCTIONS. They didn't just arrange a free venue, care of CIRCUS SPACE in London. Didn't just get their top artists to perform free of charge. Didn't just raise £2223.50 pounds for circus2iraq. They also gave as all a great big moral booster. Something we need so much out here. The moral booster was infectious. Rubbing off on the kids we work with. So that, without even seeing or touching a penny of that money, their efforts have already touched the hearts of the children. And I just wanted the world to know how beautiful those people are. Not just Anna, her performers, and circus space. But also all those people who paid to see the show. Especially the lady who offered to make regular payments if we promise to take every clown from her area toIraq."

So from all of us here, thank you so much for helping us raise the money (my heartfelt thanks especially go to Bryan from Duo Vertigo and Bobby Troman) and I hope you all had a great night out.

Other news this month is that the lovely Julia from Heir of Insanity is a mum! Mailee was born last weekend and both mum and daughter are happy and healthy.

And it is with sadness this month that the Julie leaves us for gambling lambs and rainbows in the west country. Thank you for all your hours, giggles, hard work and posture tips lass and see you soon. Enjoy never having to work on a Mac again ;o)

Featured Performer of the Month

This month's featured performers are the gorgeous acrobatic trio, Mimbre.

Mimbre are one of the few acts which not only contain an astoundingly high skill level as well leaving you smiling throughout. Their performance is compelling and draws you into their world of mischeveous tumbling and balancing. The ladies have been described as "The future definition of feminity" and I for one love the fact the fact that they break the stereotypes of how girls should be seen on stage with such a playful finess.

Mimbre have three acts; "Sprung" which is a self contained acrobatic street show where the girls emerge from an elasticated black box backdrop to transform their flips, tumbles, capoeria and balancing into one big game; they also perform a shorter version of this show as a cabaret performance; their latest show "Tryp-tic" is set on three giant metal pyramids creating a visual spectacular to be the taking point of any event.

As well as lovely people to work with, Mimbre really have the special sparkle which makes their performances shine. If I was still performing, I would certainly want to be in their gang.

Web Site

New acts on the site this month are:

Truelee Peachi with a wardrobe of stilt costumes most acts would be jealous of and balloon modelling dexterity these performers are the perfect ingredient for every event
Urban Magik astounding street magician duo who are definitely the closest thing to David Blane's street magic I have seen in a long time
Fling fantastic dynamic acrobatic act

New pictures to the website this month are:.
Brink of Distinction with some new pictures of their 'Guide to Poise and Perfection'
Clatteratti our favourite junk percussion band

Quote of the Month

Last month I had an enquiry in from a lady who was organising a charity party for migrane sufferers, whilst discussing the event she pointed out

"I need the entertainment to really compel people to turn up. I have organised these events before and a lot of people just rang me up and said they could not come because they had a headache."

Have a good April.

Warmest Regards

Anna
