MissingLinkProductions Newsletter May 2003...
News
Welcome to the May MissingLink newsletter and the beginning of
spring for those of us in Europe.
Missing Link's big news is this month is that we have finally got
ourselves a new office. We are now based at the circus training
school in Hoxton square, central London. It makes
a huge difference to be able to surround ourselves with people in
the same field as ourselves as well being able to see people training.
Our new details are Missing Link Productions, The Circus Space,
Coronet Street, London N1 6HD and our new number is 020 7739 7713,
please up date your records accordingly. And please do pop
in and see us - the office is full of chocolate at the moment and
we need help with it! I must say a huge thank you to Luisa,
Browner
and Simon from Heir of Insanity
for their arms, enthusiasm and frisbee skills and for making the
office moves one of the most fun days I have had in a long while.
Whilst we have just about managed to crawl out from underneath the
boxes (the office is looking messy again so we must have settled
in!) it is still going to be a few weeks before we are back
on broadband internet access, so please bear with us if we are not
quite as swift with our email responses as we would like.
We started off last month with a stall at the RSVP party show. I
really enjoyed the show and I really liked the fact t hat many of
the entertainers at the show came to hang out at our stand during
their time off. A big thank you to crystal ball juggler Matt
Hennem, puppeteers and walkabout act Original
Mixture, circus workshop leader, walkabout juggler
and stilt walker Jason Perry from
Wobbly Juggling Company, crystal juggler and fire performer
Browner,
our favourite close up magician Magic
Matt, caricature artist Andy
Davey, beautiful statue Pamela form
Still Living Statues, football juggler and spinner
Sam Veale, the
wonderful Complimentary
Compliments Service walkabout act and the militant
enthusiasm of Cyberstein
the giant robot in their very cheeky methods of distributing publicity.
It was really lovely to see so many old friends and to be
able to put faces to so many of you I have emailed in the past.
I managed to see quite a few shows this month.
I had a lovely weekend at the British Juggling Convention in Brighton
seeing old friends and gossiping. I really enjoyed the show
too. There was a lovely 1920's gangster style juggling routine
from Sam Hague and Stewart Pemberton, Gandini
Juggling's beautiful VIVA Aerial Danceldi glow juggling show, a
very sweet devilstick routine form Ashley Carr,
comedy acrobalance from Bongo Balero as well as comedy and skilful
tennis racket juggling from up beat juggling troupe the Racketeers,
as well as one of my favourite juggling acts, hat jugglers The Yella
Feaver Foundation. Well done to Charlie Holland for organising
such a good show, thank you to Ben form
Circus Berzercus for making my laugh so much and rumour
has it that Simon from Heir
of Insanity was spotted juggling! A big thank
you and a well earned rest to Jason from the Wobbly
Juggling Company for all his hard work.
April was also the month of the Springboard Festival at The Circus
Space. I saw a lovely clowning show called 'Raw Beef' by Hoax
Productions which was very Pythonesque in parts and has potenital
to be an extremely good show. I also saw Gandini
Juggling's new show 'Don't Break My Balls'which was
a beautifully choroegrphed juggling dance duet. Female acrobatic
trio Mimbre
also performed as part of the festival previewing their new show
'Tryp-tic' which was a very playful acrobatic dance spectacle which
left me wanting to be in their gang.
I also managed to catch the fantastic 'La Syncope du 7' at The Barbican
last week which was a really energetic show which left the audience
entralled.
Fianlly I also managed to catch Mark Thomas's new stand up show
which he is currently touring. Worth going to see just for
the portrayal of circus perfomers (thanks Mark...).
Other news is an oportunity for performers is that the Big Green
Gathering are looking for entertainers from 30th July - 3rd August
in Somerset. There is no money available for this one, but
I know that some of you may be interested in doing it for the ticket.
Great news from the performers side is that bionic woman Lucy
Francis is back performing after her accident last
year.
And one final peice of fantastic news is that the lovely people
from Pyromania have had a baby girl called Alma. Lots of love
is sent from the Missing Link office and we will be over to
see you very soon!
Web Site
The website has been very naughty this month and refused to let
me update my address, so unfortunately I have had to do this by
hand to every one of nearly six thousand pages of both sites.
However, I have still managed to add a couple of new acts to the
site this month.
Added to the site, the gorgeous juggler and aerialist Owen
Reynolds, who has been putting a lot of effort into
getting on the site for some time now.
Gig of the Month
Romany,
Diva of Magic, took herself off to the land of twinkly lights, high
heels and feathers to immerse herself in the heart of showbiz in
Las Vegas and has spent the last three months working on her stage
show.. Romany ended her adventure by performing her stage
magic show in the Wonderdome, which is half of a hot air balloon
made into a theatre.
Quote of the Month
Blah blah blah
Enjoy your May
Warm Regards
Anna
