MissingLinkProductions Newsletter May 2004...

News

Welcome to the May Missing Link Newsletter.

April was a busy month for us, which started off with the RSVP show. On our stand and roaming around the exhibition many of you had the pleasure of being entertained by:
The Complimentary Compliments Service elaborately flattering the guests
The Comic Character Creations Company with their World Record Attempt at Apathy, The Rich Beggars and The Lost Hikers
(T)hat Juggler vaudeville hat juggler
Caricaturist Andy Davey
Sam Veale football juggler extraordinaire
Quick draw artist Paul Raymonde
Anonymous with their Moulin Rouge and Diva statues
Aerial Roots and their Moulin Rouge stilt walkers
Still Living Statues elegant roman statues
Kamelyan and her electric, cyber stilt creatures
The Wrong Size with the White Lights stilt costumes
and the hit of the show, Heir of Insanity with their bouncing stilt half man - half goat characters.

A big thank you to Philip, Helena, and John on the stand and Thom and Julie for keeping the office going whilst we were all off having fun with the entertainers.

You can see Lyn from Aerial Roots performing in the Nofit State Circus which is currently touring in their UFO big top around the UK over the summer, I hear it is a show not to be missed.

A very big apology to a few acts who performed at our cabaret in aid of circus2iraq last month who were omitted from the newsletter completely by accident. The fantastic high energy acrobatics of Fling, Daniela Zocchi's graceful contortion and our fantastic meeters and greeters, Mime The Gap's Royal Footmen.

You were all wonderful and I am very sorry you did not get the initial thanks you deserved. For those of you wanting to keep up to date with the project, you can read Jo's web site diary. As reported in a number of newspapers, she did get kidnapped last month in Falluja but was released when they found video footage and photographs in her bag backing up claims that she had been doing shows for children in refugee camps there. All at Missing Link wish her lots of love, admiration and safety.

Web Site

New pictures to the website this month are:
Bureau of Silly Ideas with pictures of Helga, their very ingenius mode of transport
Larking About have new pictures of their stilt walking scarecrow
Mark Tate has new pictures of his aerial silks acts on his page
and Other Half Productions had lots of new pictures of their acts ranging from their fantastic walkabout street show Watching Me, Watching You- our only act with a man with a TV for a head! - to their beautiful stilt angels, amongst others.

Featured Performer of the Month

Featured Performer of the Month

This month's featured performer is Strawberry reputed to be the best clown in the business - and that is not just my opinion!

Strawberry AKA Fraser Hooper is what I consider to be true clowning - playful interactive silliness - not big feet, squirty flowers and painted faces. He is one of the few performers I will go out of my way to see again and again. In fact whenever I am in a grumpy mood I put on Strawberry's publicity video and it never ceases to make me giggle - I would not like to say how many times I have seen it! And for you can't get a much stronger recommendation than that.

I have seen Strawberry completely turn around the coldest of audiences and bring smiles to the faces of people who looked like they had forgotten how. Whether it be his audience participation tennis matches, his games of musical chairs or the fantastic feats of acrobatics involving his favourite duck, a clown bike, a high dive board and a fly catcher, you could not make a better choice of entertainment for any event to appeal to both adults and children alike.

Gig of the Month

A big thank you to Anonymous and The Wrong Size for glittering so glamorously at the Cirque du Soleil premiere party hosted by Roberto Cavalli in Milan at the end of last month. ”Your sparkles outshone the A-list stars, ladies - well done for all your hard work.” Also a huge thank you to Jo at Brickwerk for being so calm in such craziness, you are an utter joy to work with.

Quote of the Month

Thank you to Ste3void , juggler and yo-yo master for this month's quote

"Earth laughs in flowers." - Ralph Waldo Emerson,

Have a good May.

Warmest summery regards,

Warm Regards
