MissingLinkProductions Newsletter July 2002...

News

Welcome to the July and another packed MissingLink newsletter.

June kicked off to an astoundingly busy start with the jubilee weekend here in the UK. We had performer the length and breadth of the country from jugglers at Buckingham Palace to performers at village street parties. I feel proud to have had so many of our entertainers make such a festive weekend that extra bit special for so many people. Thank you to all the performers who worked travel so far and worked so hard over that long weekend.

I had the pleasure over the jubilee weekend of going to see Dingle Fingle do his comedy clown car act in west London which was superb. A real fun filled day that left me full of smiles. It is really is a fantastic act to be recommended for any family event.

I ended the weekend at the Hoxton Bark Cabaret where the ever stunning Mimbre performed their wonderfully uplifting acrobatic / acroabalance / capoeria act. Romany also performed her stage magic act which went down really well with the audience. I heard lots of very positive comments being made at the end of the show.

Towards the end of the month I went to the Weird and Twisted Cabaret in Stoke Newington where there were many wonderful acts. Fraser Hooper (AKA Strawberry) did his fantastic clowning stage show, Stompy performed his 'Half Naked Chef' comedy act and the show was strung together by the wit and wonder of Chameleon who were compering. Legendary Lynn was also performing her 'Carmen Miranda and her Inflatable Palm Trees' stilt walkabout act.

I have just returned from Glastonbury Festival where many of our entertainers could be seen adding to the frivolity all over the site. Caroline Parker performed her fantastic signed songs in the theatre tent she just about managed to slip in some other favourites between the requests for her wonderful sign language version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Other highlights of the festival for me were seeing both Heir of Insanity perform their new large scale aerial circus show.

In the cabaret and circus tents I managed to see the glories of Miss Behave's cabaret sword swallowing show. The Gandinis performing their fantastic club juggling routine, The Black Eagles who were, as always, a pleasure to watch with their acrobatic show. Ozzie fakirs The Happy Side Show went down really well with the crowd and created a lot of talk around the festival.

There were so many walkabout performers and shows at the festival, but people who really stood out to me were Strangelings with their Gaeity Engine, a mock up old fashioned freak show, Legendary Lynn's walkabout stilt sailor and mermaid, Cyberstein's giant anamatronic robot and Curious Eyebrow's 'BLITE' black and white walkabout characters.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the Minuscule of Sound's Xmas Carol Party and being bundled inside to squash an amazing 25 people into the world's smallest nightclub.

The best crowd reaction, however, had to be the tent full of people heckling Woody Bop Muddy with shouts of "RICE!". If you were not there , you need to make sure you see this act to apprciate quite how passionate people can be about sending records to heaven or his record graveyard.

Other news this month is that the lovely Layla has been getting fantastic reviews of her aerial skills in Shunt's new show "Dance Bear Dance".

You may also have seen talented juggler Sam Veale on channel 4's 'Treats from the Edwardian Country House' last week.

Web Site

Circo Rum Ba Ba have been added to the web site this month with their wonderful variety of performances from stilts to a giant inflatable whale with shows inside. They are a very talented and renowned female circus group.

New pictures on the web site this month are Divine Company with some pictures of their fire shows and ribbon twirling acts, Kamelyan with new pictures of her fakir show, Creature Feature have some new pictures of the giant gorillas and Aerial Roots have lots of really nice new photos of their acts.

Quote of the Month

A little boy went up to Sam Veale during a jubilee street party and asked "Do you get paid to smile?".

I am happy to be assisting people making a living out of such things.

Enjoy July.

Warm Regards

Anna
