MissingLinkProductions Newsletter August 2002...

News

Hello, hello and welcome to the August MissingLink newsletter. I hope all of you are having a fantastic summer (and winter for those of you in the colder climes).

I managed to get to see a lot of shows in July, which has been a lovely way to set off the summer.

I finally got around to seeing Shunt's show Dance Bear Dance. This was definitely the craziest performance I have seen in years and it was very clever. At the interval we had a choice of going to a sermon or a den of iniquity where Layla performed a silks routine with possibly the best ending to an aerial routine I have ever seen.

Some of you in the UK may have seen an article on Miss Behave and VIVA Aerial Dance in the Daily Mirror a few weeks ago with some great pictures.

Other observant readers out there may be able to spot Michele Laine from VIVA Aerial Dance as the figure in the new PS2 game 'End Game'. Michele did the motion capture for the game, so we cannot guarantee that she will be available in those precise costumes.

Other performers news this month is that Feeding The Fish have developed a new triggering system for their stunning light up juggling equipment for their show 'Luminescence'.

I have been contacted about several opportunities for performers this month. Firstly the Hoxton Bark Cabaret starts again next month and they are looking for interesting and amusing acts for their shows; the second opportunity is that I have been approached by the makers of 'The Weakest Link' who are intending to do a street performers special; Another production company are looking for performing couples for a documentary they are doing; and finally MTV have approached me and asked me to publicise the fact that they are currently looking for a new presenter. Please contact me for more information on any of these opportunities.

One last piece of news for performers is a web site I have found called datesheet.net . It is an online copy of your diary, which is maintained and updated by you but which does not have contact details on. You can therefore pass it on to all your agents and clients. As many of you are aware, printed date sheets tend to be out of date within days, so I think that this is a really welcome resource. Please do have a look and let me know what you think.

Web Site

We have lots of new pictures on the site this month:

  • Bedlam Oz , the giant human slinkies have a new picture on their page.
  • Bread and Butter Theatre Company have some new pictures of their walkabout characters Monsieur Matt Emulsion and Bill Insgate.
  • Dingle Fingle has some new pictures of his hotrod act the Hot Rotter to go with his comedy clown car act.
  • Dot Comedy have lots of new pictures of their various acts ranging from the MisInformation Tent to the Comedy Car Boot Sale. They really are a fantastic addition to any event.

We have also added some nice new quotes to the Testimonials page and an 'About Us' section to the site.

Gig of the Month

Gig if the month has to go to our favourite cabaret girls Miss Behave and Liza Minelli who could be seen Cabareting it up on 'V Graham Norton' this week. Miss Behave did her enthralling yet stomach churning swallowing a chair leg routine.

Quote of the Month

This month's quote comes from a great book I am reading:

"It is right to chide man for being blind to coincidences in his daily life. For he thereby deprives his life of a dimension of beauty". - Milan Kundera

Enjoy your August.

Warm Regards

Anna
