MissingLinkProductions Newsletter September 2002...
News
Welcome to the September Missing Link newsletter. I hope
that you have all been having a wonderful summer.
In August Howie Bailey produced a showreel of a wide range of our
performers for us, on CD ROM. It is a great little video which
shows clips of what we do. If you would like a copy of this
please do let me know. By the beginning of October we are
hoping to have a brochure to accompany the CD ROM's of performers
videos which we send out.
Many of our performers were up at the Edinburgh Fringe in August. Sword
swallower and escapeologist, Miss
Behave, performed her street shows and cabaret act
throughout the festival.
I managed to see Mimbre's
fantastic street show 'Sprung' in London a few weeks ago.
I think it speaks volumes when I am more than happy to go
out of my way to see a performance which I have seen so many times
before. And I still love it.
Luke Wilson's
other news is that he has just won first prize at the international
street magicians festival in Germany.
News for performers this month is that after several discussion
with Equity about insurance documents, I have finally managed to
get hold of some. I know many of you are insured with Equity
and have previously had trouble obtaining insurance documents which
are often requested. I spoke to them about this and discussed
the issue that for events organisers and agents, a card with your
membership number on is not enough; they have sent me a pile of
blank insurance documents for Equity members which can be used for
this purpose. Any of you who would like a copy please drop
me a line.
Web Site
We have lots of fantastic new additions to the website this
month.
Still Living Statues
are beautiful performers adding a spectacular element to any party
or function.
Mimeworks create
a wide range of characters for any function ranging from Lara Croft
to Bloated British Beasties...
Cyberstein
is one of the most visually stunning robotic creations I have ever
seen. Their amazing robot who stands nearly eight feet tall
has also been added to the website.
Delia Du Sol,
the contortionist who could be seen climbing inside a 17" glass
cube on Graham Norton's show a couple of months ago can at last
be viewed on the website. Delia is also available for a double
act called 'Jewel' with Daniela
Zocchi.
Claredeloon
has several new pictures of her aerial hoop, corde lisse and web
rope cabaret show.
We have added pictures of Fair
Play's walkabout characters Ron and Don the dodgy geezers
who will try and sell you a second hand car or simply empty your
wallet, given half the chance.
The wonderful classic comedy juggling duo The
Curious Eyebrows also have some new pictures on their
page.
And last but not least, street artist Jon
Hicks has new wording on his page on the website.
Gigs of the Summer
Thank you to all of the performers who have been travelling to
and from Cyprus for us throughout the last few months. We
hope you managed to cope with all that sunshine in between your
performing. Thanks also to Marios for being a complete pleasure
to work with throughout the summer on these nightclub jobs.
Quote of the Month
This month's quote comes from a an old friend who also has a passion
for special words:
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away.".
One last note is that I am going to be at a circus festival from
16th - 20th September. James will be manning the office part
time, but please bear with us if we are not as efficient as we normally
are during this period.
Have a fantastic September and I look forward to seeing many of
you in Bristol.
Warm Regards
Anna
