MissingLinkProductions Newsletter September
2003...
News
Blimey! September already! I think that most this last
month for those of us in Europe was spent wilting in the heat. That
does all seem quite a long time ago already though.
Having worked very hard throughout the summer and now that I have
time to have a brief breather before the Xmas season truly kicks
in, I am going to take a much needed break. The office shall
be closed from the 12th September and shall reopen on 22nd. Decadant
though it may seem, I am determined to take my first holiday in
four years without my lap top or my mobile. So I urge all
of you who have on going enquiries with us for dates before October,
please, please, please try and get these tied up with me before
Thursday as there is going to be no one in the office to help (Luisa
is being a good girl and going back to school, Katie is now living
in Hertfordshire and Sam has not been with us long enough to throw
the responsibility of running the shop on her own at her just yet!).
I will be able to be contacted in absolute emergencies if
you call the office during this time, but I will come back a happier,
healthier agent the less work I do on my holidays!
And a wee reminder about dates to all you performers wanting to
go in the new brochure... The deadline is looming...
Unfortunately, as many of you have noticed, we have spent a lot
of this month being plagued by technical problems. Luckily
I did not get the big virus that went round, but in the weekend
that it all happened, I got sent it a glorious three and a half
thousand times. Not bad for two days huh? It is still
seems to be doing the rounds though, but there are really easy ways
to stop it. If you are not expecting an attachment or if it
is not fully explained (and personalised) in the content of the
email – even if you know the sender – just do not open
it. No one in the right mind is going to object to you dropping
them an email back saying “Did you intend to send me that
attachment?” and ask them what it is. So ploughing through
those took up a lot of my time. Then unfortunately the web
site went down unexplicibly for a week, but it is all happily up
and running again now. However, sadly, almost as soon as that
resolved I have been having non-stop email problems. A lot
of you are finding that your emails to us are bouncing – the
info@circusperformers.com
address seems to be particularly bad. After three weeks of
complaining to my server (easyspace for those of you who are interested)
it appear they have no intention of either getting back to me or
resolving the problems. If any of you have any strong recommendations
for reliable servers with good technical support when things do
go wrong I would be really interested, as I am eager to move my
business away from them. For those of you still having problems,
please try either info@missinglinkproductions.co.uk
or anna@circusperformers.com.
Also if any of you have not received a reply from an email
you have sent us over the past two weeks, please sent it again as
I am currently up to date with answering all the emails I have received.
And last, but not least, if you receive an email from admin@missinglinkproductions.co.uk
or admin@circusperformers.com, it is a virus and it is not from
me. Please do not open these mails. We do not use the
admin@ address. I will never send out an attachment without
explaining it in the email itself – and emails nearly always
carry my signature.
Right, with all of that out of the way on with the rest of the month.
On a far more pleasant note I got to see the fantastic show
lush performed by Heir
of Insanity in Trafalgar Square this month. I
really enjoyed the show, it was playful and made me laugh which
is very rare for an aerial act to accomplish. Their balancing
and bouncing stilt work was, as ever a joy to watch. Also
performing in Trafalgar Square were the lovely female acrobatic
trio Mimbre.
Over the summer their show ‘Trip-tic’ has gained a lot
more frivolity and the girls have moulded the show more to themselves.
The act took on a new level of cheekiness in their characters
and they have really made the show grow.
This month I also had the pleasure of attending the amazing street
artist in action Jon
Hicks wedding. Though his Elvis impersonator
was fab, he was not a patch on the fantastic clowning show performed
by Missing Link’s favourite clown Strawberry.
Congratulations to Jon and Annie – you both looked gorgeous.
News for performers who may be interested in the Chamäleon
Varieté Berlin which is a newcomer festival (with cash prizes
kids...). You can find out more about this at http://www.chamaeleon-variete.de
.
An interesting opportunity for all you clowns out there. I
have been approached by a chap in the States who is putting together
an anthology of clowns around the world and trying to get biogs
and pictures of clowns for his book. If this interests you
please let me know and I shall pass on his details.
Web Site
We have some beautiful new costumed walkabout characters added
to the site this month. We have the mysterious and silently
beautiful Anonymous statue
and glideabout performers who have some stunning costumes which
can be adapted for many themed parties.
We have added some really lovely new pictures of the characters
from Electric Cabaret and the stilt walking costumes.
And last but not least we have some new pictures of Feeding
The Fish's new show 'Flux' to the site.
Quote of the Month
This month’s quote is a good one to remember when things
are getting a bit gruelling...
“If it was easy, everybody would be doing it”
And on that note I am off on holiday!
So please remember the office will be shut from this Thursday until
22nd September.Have a great month.
Warmest Regards
Anna
