MissingLinkProductions Newsletter October 2003...

News

Welcome to a slightly nippy Missing Link Productions newsletter.

I spent most of September having a lovely break (or preparing for it or catching up on stuff after it) at Bristol Circus Skills Convention, which was an utter joy.

There was a show at the end of the week which was compered by the fantastic Dan the (other) Hat and our fantastic Yo Yo boy Ste3void.  The amazing juggling show from Robin Gunney was really great to see and fantastic.  It was great to see the Irish football juggler Sugardaddy who also performed.  A real favourite for me was seeing the fantastic Mr Dennis Teeth playing his saw - it was a real treat.

I left my holiday to come straight back to Trafalgar Square where we had been helping the Prince's Trust organise a big day out.  Heir of Insanity stole the day with their beautiful bouncing stilt goat - flirts 'The Satyrs'.  I was told by one onlooker that it was like magic being real. There was a wonderful moment when I stood at the top of the steps and watch Cyberstein the giant robot walking across the square with a crowd of a couple of hundred people flocking behind him like the Pied Piper. Fantastic shows were performed by the wonderful clown Fraser Hooper AKA Strawberry and Steve Faulkner, our favourite escapologist. Walkabout was provided by the gloriously funny Irish tea maid, Bridie, from Rin Tin Tin and the wonderful walkabout puppetry of Original Mixture.  Still Living Statues managed to fool members of the public with their own human version of the statues in the square and we also had the wonderful caricatures of Sarah Bailey from Caricatures Galore and the gorgeous face painting of Claredeloon and Faceworks.

So onto other news now, some of you hopefully managed to see the fantastic new Creature Comforts series where the first episode was all about the circus.  It featured the wonderful voice of Julie from Rin Tin Tin as Ivanna The Lioness.

We have a long list of congratulations this month.  A big congratulations to Pam and Chris Tofu from Continental on the birth of their baby girl.

Congratulations also (belatedly) to Jenny Penguin from Brink of Distinction the creators of the wonderful Giant Garden Gnomes and The Guide to Poise and Perfection, who is now Mrs Jenny Penguin.  I had a great night out with lots of you at Lucy in the Sky (and Robert's) party to celebrate their wedding.

And finally, a loving congratulations and a huge exhaling to the gorgeous Suzy Barton in regards to her settlement.  You deserve every penny lass.

One final thank you to the gorgeous and graceful entertainer Grant Goldie for coming and helping in the office this month.  Last month I forgot to mention how grateful I was to the lovely Julia from Heir of Insanity for coming and helping out on the good ship Missing Link.

Web Site

Even though I have been away this month I have still managed to get a fair amount done on the website.

Divine Company have had some new pictures of their stilt walking, their fire performing and ribbon dancing added to the site.

I have added the fantastic new Glam Rock costumes from Artemis to the website.

Aerial Roots have a fantastic picture of their Zorro trapeze act added to their page.

Gig of the Month

I left Trafalgar Square on the return from my break with Cyberstein to perform the fantastic publicity stunt of going to do a show underneath David Blaine's box.  We hatted the crowd and gave the money to Oxfam - to help those who are genuinely starving and not doing it by choice.

Quote of the Month

Getting a bit philosophical this month but I read this and it made me pause and smile.

"What, after all, is reason but a means to lead us along the paths of desire?" - Clare Messud

Have a great October.

Warm Regards
