MissingLinkProductions Newsletter November 2002...

News

Blimey!  Beginning of the month again!

October has been a very hectic month for us.

I started the month off with a three day exhibition stall at the National Wedding Show up at the NEC in Birmingham.  I had been a little unsure about how everything would go, but I ended up having a really enjoyable weekend.  This was definitely helped by the lovely people who had stands around me and all the performers who came up to entertain the crowds.  A huge thank you to Arbie the Robot, Electric Cabaret, the mime artists, juggler Sam Veale, silhouhette cutter Roving Artist, Charles Burns, caricaturists Andy Davey, Sweet Fairy Nika, Magic Matt, and Brink of Distinction's wonderful Giant Penguins and Giant Garden Gnomes.  You were all really fantastic and I really appreciate all the hard crowd pulling you did for us.

After ploughing through all the enquiries we got at that event, I then went off to give a talk at the City Women's Network about the business start up, girls in business and the help I got from the Princes Trust.  I was very nervous about it, but the evening went really well and I met some very interesting people.

I went to see the fantastic show 'Acrobat' at the roundhouse a few weeks ago which was amazing.  I loved the set up, the show, the costumes and the skill level was phenomenal.
Some of you may have seen Magic Matt on Chris Moyle's Channel 5 TV show last week, doing some of his fantastic pickpocketing skills dressed as a security guard.

Other performers news is that the gorgeous Heir of Insanity have just finished a month run at the GOP variety theatre is Germany.

The wonderful signed song performer Caroline Parker will be performing her one woman show at the Wimbledon Theatre on 25th November.  Another one definitely worth seeing if you can.

One last piece of performers news for you, as a lot of you have been asking, is that Lucy Francis is making an amazingly rapid recovery.  Well done to the girl for having the strength to heal so quickly and we look forward to seeing you training again soon.

A final enquiry for our performers this month, I know that Xmas is looming and you are all very busy, but I have been contacted by a children's hospital to see if any of you would be interested in performing on the ward.  Please do let me know if you can spare the time.

Web Site

In amongst all my gallivanting this month, I have managed to squeeze in a few more acts to the website.

The synchronised mime and elegant statues of Electric Cabaret have also been put on the site.  Having seen them working at the Wedding Show I can guarantee they will be a hit at any corporate event.

Also added the the site this month are Mime The Gap and their Royal Footmen.  Some of the most high class meet and greet characters your event could have.

Comedy Marilyn cabaret performer Verity Snee has changed her stage name to Helen Kane and this has been updated on the website.

And finally our list of Xmas performers has gone up on the site.  You can see them here.

Gig of the Month

Gig of the month, quite obviously, has to be the fantastic Jon Hicks, Artist in Action, who has spent most of the month touring Japan.  I went out to see Jon for the first few days of performance.  An enormous thank you to the very kind Kazuyo, Toshiko, Fumiko and Keiji and everyone else who made my visit one of the most enjoyable jobs I have ever had.

Quote of the Month

Over lunch one day last week, one of my performers, looked up from his coffee and rather dejectedly said

"I get really nervous when I speak to you, hoping that one day, maybe one day I will say something funny enough to be quote of the month".

Well Mr Tate, looks like you finally made it.

Wrap up warm, all of you in Europe, at this nippy time of year.

Enjoy your November.
