MissingLinkProductions Newsletter November 2003...
News
Welcome to the November Missing Link Productions newsletter.
The Xmas Season is in full swing here in the office and we are merrily
composing people’s parties left, right and centre. We
have a number of performers on our books who have very seasonal
costumes for this festive period:
• Anonymous have
some gorgeous red velvet statues which will set off any event at
this time of year
• The lovely Arbie
the Robot is the perfect promotional tool for any event
as he can record sound-bites and playfully interact with all ages
• The wonderfully cute giant penguins from Brink
of Distinction are the perfect walkabout creatures
for all your winter wonderland parties
• Circo Rum Ba Ba
have Fanny and Florrie the Cockney Xmas Fairies
• Cirque Bijou
have a Santa on stilts
• Curious Company
have a stilt walking Ice Queen and a stilt walking Ice King
• There is the hilarious Xmas car boot sale from Dotcomedy
• Bureau of Silly Ideas
have their brand new robotic moody, drunk and hum-bugging Xmas tree
• Excess All Areas have some stilt walking Xmas trees with
animated fairies
• Fair Play
have their wonderful elves with their Good-o-meter testing how well
behaved people have been this year
• Heir of Insanity have
the bounciest stilt reindeers in town, new for this season
• One of my favourite street artists
Jon Hicks does some really high impact paintings, from
Xmas scenes through to Xmas portraits
• Mark Tate
has his very flirtatious stilt walking Xmas tree
• The world’s only living box, Maynard
Flipflap presents his ‘Man in an Xmas Present’
(presents... Geddit...?)
• Other Half Productions
have some really stunning stilt walking angels which are beautifully
suited to any event.
• Original Mixture
present ‘The Sanity Clauses’ which are festival mix
and mingle interactive puppet shows
• We have the very versatile and easily themed human statues
from Still Living Statues
• And last but not least The
Wrong Size have their amazingly elegant ‘Red
and White Light Ensembles’ which are the perfect addition
to event event to really spoil your guests.
October has brought us some lovely new people to Missing Link.
The infamous Julie Thornton joins the team to help John and
myself get entertainers out there to make your events that extra
bit special, and we are also joined by a long standing Missing Link
aide Thom Chesser. It is already a lot more fun around the
office.
I am off to work at WOMAD festival in Las Palmas this week, so please
bear with us whilst they settle in and take the reins.
One final bit of news for performers is that Equity are considering
extending their public liability insurance to cover fire if they
can get enough people who are interested. Even if you are
not a member this would vastly reduce the amount people have to
pay for their insurance, which is important to us all, but they
need to have enough people to make this viable. Please contact
Michael Day for further
information.
Web Site
We have started on a major website overhaul this month which has
started with the redesign of the alphabetical listings on the site.
This was inspired by the fantastic Brink
of Distinction who have several fantastic acts and
whom I felt were not getting enough exposure by just having a single
picture to grab peoples’ attention. In the new layout
you can see a number of images of the entertainer so you get more
of an idea of their versatility and different costumes which may
suit your event. Let me know what you think of the new layout.
All feedback very much appreciated.
We have a lot of new pictures on added to acts pages too. World
record holding sword swallower Miss
Behave has some new pictures on her page, our fabulous
female close magician Romany
has had some pictures added, the lovely Layla
has a new picture of her ‘Turkish Trapeze Show’, our
favourite chair balancing comedy duo The
Stretch People.
Quote of the Month
Thank you to Bruce Munton, close up magician, for forwarding this
months quote
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious.
It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this
emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand
rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."
- Albert Einstein
I hope you all have a fantastic month.
