July 2005

News
Well it has certainly been a strange couple of weeks here is London; hence the delay for the newsletter. My initial thought was that we should not send the newsletter out this month as it did not seem appropriate, but as the days have gone on I have realised that it is important to carry on doing what we do - and what we do is circus - however inappropriate that may feel at times like this. The main aim of people trying to instil fear into you is try and stop you doing what you do, so here is our July newsletter, a little late, but here none the less. All here in the office want to send out love, strength and peace to people who have been affected over the last couple of weeks.

We also are sending immeasurable amounts of love and healing to Bobby Troman, our star stage manger. There have been many a gig where I have caught myself thinking not only how much easier my life is with Bobby in it but how much more I enjoy it. As any of you who have had the pleasure of working on gigs with Bobby will know, he is a man who not only knows his stuff but has it all done and dusted before you have thought of it. Anyone who would like updates on how he is progressing please email Anna directly.

And continuing on similar lines there are some events being organised down in Brixton between
11th - 18th September for an event called ‘Performers for Peace’. If any of you out there would like to be involved and think that you could give some of your time and skills to help make this event a success please mail peace@circusperformers.com and we will send you more details.

Before all the mayhem kicked in, I went to the slightly soggy field that was the Glastonbury Festival. Despite the storm and the ensuing river through the site I had a fantastic time and very few shows seemed to be hindered. Performers I saw who particularly stood out to me where Three Monkey Productions and their Incredi-bull Circus, the glorious sign-song silent diva Caroline Parker performing 'Let's Get Physical', Theatre of Adventure and the Random Acts of Jazz, Curious Eyebrows and their fantastically synchronised monochrome walkabout act BLITE, beautifully elegant acrobatics from Tumbelina, hilarious playfulness and clowning from Strawberry and watching the fantastic new light and fire dance circus spectacular Fuse from Cirque Bijou. And a personal thank you to top workshop leaders Ben from Circus Berzercus and close up magician Robin Fox for keeping me entertained with their own unique brands of silliness.

Our performers families are increasing. Congratulations to Louise from Curious Company on the birth of Phoebe. Wishing you quiet nights and lots of smiles.

And in answer to a question lots of you have been asking this month, yes that is Kati from Gandini Juggling on that headache tablet advert.

Featured Performer
Stretch People

This months featured performers are so good we had to have them back.

The wonderful Stretch People are back in the UK for a month performing their hilarious comedy chair balancing street show across Europe. One of the finest acts ever too have come out of the UK new circus scene and definitely one of the tightest and funniest cabaret numbers you could ask for.

I know that we have said this before but if it is that magical highlight you are looking for at your event which will have people talking about your party for months (even years as was proved to me a few weeks ago!) then this is definitely the act for you.

From comedy waiters through to acrobatics at its silliest, if you are organising an event over the next month then these boys are an absolute must have. Ladies & Gentlemen, we give you the marvelous Stretch People...

Quote of the Month

"This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap..."
George Bernard Shaw

Pointed out to me by Simon from Heir of Insanity - thank you.

Wishing you all a peaceful month.
