Welcome to the August Missing Link newsletter.
It was been a fairly
hectic month in and out the office for us with Anna off working in Kuala
Lumpa and WOMAD, Thom has been working in Braxted, John has been working
in Cardiff and in Greystones, Philip has been working in Bedford, Hertford
and London, the gallivanter, Steph has been working at the Big Green Gathering
and Helena has been working hard on her tan in Portugal. Thanks to all
in the office for keeping things running so smoothly whilst I was away
- and reminding me that I can take time off. We have our lovely new lady
Kat starting work this week, so warm welcomes to her.
We have lots of Performers
News this month, with all the Missing Link movers and shakers. Congratulations
to top contortion girl Daniela
Zocchi and James and to escapologist and street performer
Steve
Faulkner and his lovely lady
on tying the knot this month. And a huge well done and exhaling to Lina
from stunning acrobatic trio Mimbre
on the birth of her daughter, Tuva. |

| Featured
Performer |
|
This
months featured performer is glam-and-glitter diva magicienne Romany.
Having watched Romany
excel comparing the Spiegel Tent cabaret at WOMAD recently I remembered
what a phenomenally professional entertainer this lady is and what a joy
she is to work with.
Her High Society
Magic act works a treat for mix and mingle or her glorious quick-change
stage show has been honed in the variety venues of Germany and under the
lights of Las Vegas.
Her rapport with the
audience and other performers on stage is such a pleasure to watch, appealing
to all ages, audience members and humours.
There are few performers,
I believe, put as much passion and pazzazz into their every performance
as Romany
- she is a lady who puts in 200% to every performance, and someone I cannot
wait to work on a show with again.

Charity
Project to Beslan - Performers Needed
We
have recently had a request for performers to go to Beslan, in the Caucasus,
as part of a quest to bring some light and joy to the children of this
area, still in so much sorrow after the terrorist attack on a school there
last September. The project is the idea of Simon Joseph, who thought it
would be good to try and do something besides simply sending money to
the area, and he arrived on the idea of trying to take some performers
down there to entertain the children.
We are looking for
all types of performers - from those that can offer something unusual
to more traditional juggling, balloon modelling and workshops - to go
to Moscow and Beslan in October. It’s a charity project, so no performance
fees, but they will cover all flights and per diems as necessary.
We are looking for
people who are not shy about going to a place like this. The dangers are
typically hyped and over-rated, but of course it isn't like going to Paris
for the weekend! Please get in touch if you are interested! Email us at

| Gig
of the Month
Gig of the month this
month was the fabulous show that was the Spiegel Tent at WOMAD in Reading
which was one of the best shows and the nicest bunch of performers I have
ever had the joy of working with.
We had the amazing
signed songs from our silent diva Caroline
Parker, the giant slinkies from Bedlam
Oz getting it on in 'Slinkie Love',
street playfulness and a story of acrobatic love from Other
Half Productions
with their show 'The Better Halves', fantastic flapper contortion
from An
Act Above. All tightly reined in and sewn together by the
magical MC Ms Romany
- a lady who takes professionalism to a whole new level. We
also had walkabout from Urban
Magik and Crystal
Music Box.
The cabaret was definitely
one of the loveliest shows I have worked on in a very long time and a
weekend that provided me with so many moments that reminded me not only
why I do what I do but how much I love my job. A massive thank you to
all of the entertainers and the organizers for all their hard work.

In order to gain mentions in the newsletter, performers are requested
to keep me up to date with their latest news, reviews, acts, antics,
costumes, ideas, appearances, pictures, plans and gossip. Especially
the gossip. It does not all go in I promise. Get me the stuff and get
the mention - that is that way it works. But I do like to be kept up
to date. Send us pictures, you get publicity in the newsletter - it
really is that simple. Any information you would like to share with
other performers may also be included, though we try not to publicise
up coming gigs for obvious reasons. Most of the content of this newsletter
is based on things that I have seen and heard with my own eyes and ears,
other bits are simply rumours provided by performers themselves. I can
take no credit for such things. Though I do sometimes try to verify
them if I get the chance. Though every parent tries not to have favourites,
performers working for us at trade shows do get in our good books, and
those who are willing to help us raise money for charity get extra brownie
points. This month we have mostly been using the fantastic search engine
http://www.everyclick.com - select your charity and make donations every
time you click through. Can't find something on it? Search Google and
access them through there and give money to charities every day with
little effort. Special cakes are reserved for performers who write down
their reference numbers. Look at your datesheet, see how things work
our end. Pencils mean we are putting you up for gigs. If the client
does not go for it we cannot be held responsible, the end decision is
rarely ours to make. Please fill out your forms . Really fill out your
forms. please fill out your forms. It is going to make such a difference..
Updates to the website are made during weekends only - the slower they
happen the healthier an agent I am... Missing Link Productions ltd has
this month has been run by Helena, who is currently nowhere to be seen,
Steph, my dancing mouse princess, John from the Stretch People, where
have you gone? new girl Kat, Philip, who I am going to miss being around
here and making us all chuckle and tea and Thom, over in my corner huh?
