Welcome to the March Missing Link Newsletter. I hope you all had a good
February
All of us at Missing Link would like to say a million thank yous to everyone
who came along and helped make the tsunami benefit gig such an amazingly
successful night.
All of the stage acts,
the incomparable compere Ida Barr, our very own diva divine Ms
Caroline Parker, the gorgeously glam Miss
Behave, the king of Rock and Rollering Sire Jon
Hicks, Incandesence, Robert Newman, Mark Thomas and The Blockheads
were simply stunning, you all live upto your glorious reputations.
The evening was really
added to by the superb walkabout naughtiness of Sidney
the Bin and Nancy la Poubelle, Mime
the Gap's Royal Footmen and The
Complimentary Compliments Service, plus the Miniscule
of Sound chaps for manning the music at the after show shindig. My
personal thanks extend eternally to all of the staff here at Missing Link
for writing me sick notes when I am really off doing charity gigs, Thom
and John
Stretch for being the follow-spot kings, Philip for being top chauffeur
of the evening, Mark for reminding me what friends are for, my mum for
being the person who didn't let you get to your seat unless you bought
a raffle ticket, Helena for all the support and most of all to Continental
and Hey Chihuahua for reminding me that when it comes down to the important
stuff, we are all in it together.
The evening managed
to raise £7000 through the door, just under £1500 on the raffle
(thanks Mum) and we got people drinking so much at the bar that the venue
hire cost went down from £3500 to £900! So to all of
you who gave your time, your raffle selling abilities, your support, your
promotions, your staff, your raffle prizes, your donations, your credit
cards, your friendship, your livers and your riches. Thank
you, thank you, thank you. |

Brixton
Tsunami Special
Thank you also to everyone
who performed, came along and those who helped out at the Brixton Tsunami
benefit. Stompy from Dotcomedy,
Truelee Peachi and Sidney
the Bin who made me roar with laughter most of the evening. Thanks
also to Bedlam
Oz for all the offers. I came away overwhelmed by how much easier
it is to run a business than a cloakroom!

Keeping the theme I got a couple of emails this week letting me know that
Devilstick
Peat (one of the key people behind Circus2Iraq.org,
who we did the benefit gig for last year) and Children's World International
are organising a tour of workshops and performances for children effected
by the tsunami in Sri Lanka. The tour is due to take place from September
through to December of this year. If any of performers out there are interested
in knowing more, or even if you have a wee bit of workshop equipment you
would like to donate, please do
let me know and I shall put you in touch with the right people. |
| Hats
Off !
One final bit of news this month is a congratulations to Steve
Faulkner who won the 'Street Entertainer of the Year' British Champion
at the Blackpool Magic Convention. Well done Steve, we think you should
hat all your shows with your trophy. |

Half Productions are some of the most hard working and innovative
walkabout performers in the UK.
Other Half have a great range of acts, my favourite being 'Watching Me,
Watching You' which features a man with a television on his head! As intrigued
passers-by stand and stare their faces appear on his screen, sometimes
from face on, sometimes from another angle, always a joy to watch their
smiles and wonder on the screen.
They also have the
fantastic, beautiful stilt walking 'Fallen Angels' trying to find their
way back to heaven, 'The Last of the Mochicans' human statue performance
and a fantastic juggling and acrobalance street and cabaret show. All
you could need for your street festival, wedding or party!
Other
Half Productions are some of the most versatile entertainers you could
have for your event. Make sure you book quickly, whilst stocks last. |

Picture
of the Month
We have decided that
the newsletter is not interactive enough, so we have a new section, a
caption competition. Please feel free to wile away the office hours by
making us chuckle. Winners get loving cups of tea made when they come
and visit us in the office. Email all captions through to marchcomedycaptions@circusperformers.com
We have a nice circusy start for you here...

In order to gain mentions in the newsletter, performers are requested
to keep me up to date with their latest news, reviews, acts, antics,
costumes, ideas, appearances, pictures, plans and gossip. Especially
the gossip. It does not all go in I promise. But I do like to be kept
up to date. Send us pictures, you get publicity in the newsletter -
it really is that simple. Any information you would like to share with
other performers may also be included, thought we try not to publicise
up coming gigs for obvious reasons. Most of the content of this newsletter
is based on things that I have seen and heard with my own eyes and ears,
other bits are simply rumours provided by performers themselves. I can
take no credit for such things. Though I do sometimes try to verify
them if I get the chance. Though every parent tries not to have favourites,
performers working for us at trade shows do get in our good books, and
those who are willing to help us raise money for charity get extra brownie
points. We have a stand at RSVP next year if anyone wants to get early
gold stars. There is always space to come and play on the stand if you
like. Special cakes are reserved for performers who write down their
reference numbers. t really is starting to work. Pencils mean we are
putting you up for gigs. If the client does not go for it we cannot
be held responsible, the end decision is rarely ours to make. We have
a new system in place where you can check up on the progress of things.
Ask us about it. Updates to the website are made during evening and
weekends - the slower they happen the healthier an agent I am... Please
bear with us; it is just the way the systems work. A huge thank you
to Thom Chesser (CC), without whom my syntax would be a lot more painful
on the eye. And for being my brain. He does work hard, bless 'im. Missing
Link Productions ltd has this month has been run by Helena, my partner
in giggles and keeper of admin whilst I am away, John from the Stretch
People, who is like our office Buddhist, bringing calm and smiles wherever
he treads, he does a very good ringmaster act too, John, you are my
favourite, Philip, our winner of battles, diplomat and general
sweet talker, Thom, his patience, his begrudgly working all hours, his
acceptance of all our bullying (well mine), his brain, his atrocisous
posture, his ability to fix everything except my computer, and my waistline,
but most of all, for sticking it out. His tongue that is. Oh and a final
thanks to Mr choughy lungs, Daniel Bee, my favourite PR babe, for the
lectures, the stern words, the time and and words of support - privildged
and proud to be a friend lad. Thanks and giggles.
This month, Missing Link Productions have mostly been running around
trying to get people to buy tickets to tsunaim benefit gigs.
