Welcome to this month’s very sunny Missing Link newsletter.
Our Performers have been leaping, bouncing, rolling and juggling into the summer season, bringing back a sparkle and a smile to events after a winter of political and financial uncertainty around the world.
Juggler and stilt walker Steve Kaos and Hula Hooping delight Hoop La La have just returned from performing at the Grand Prix in Bahrain, where their shows ran better than Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren, football juggler Sam Veale and Plate Spinner (T)hat Juggler performed at the Emir Cup in Qatar, star riggers High Performance Productions have been working on the launch of Sister Act the Musical in the West End of London, Yo Yo Master Arron Sparks has been performing at Blackpool Tower Circus and Other Half Productions and Dave Chameleon helped Platform London draw attention to a campaign concerning the claimed environmental impact of Shell's involvement in the oil-rich Niger Delta, by simulating "gas flaring" in the City of London.
June is a great month to catch entertainers out and about and our favourite Mistress of Ceremonies Miss Behave will be the glamorous hostess at Nights of Comedy down on the South Bank in London town. Make sure you don't miss the chance to catch this cabaret with delights from one of our favourite female humorists and her talented menagerie of comedians. More information click here.
New to the website this month we have the fabulously feminine fire show Flame Fatale, just perfect to make those hot summer evenings ahead even hotter!
Other Half Productions have been out to lunch, taking a political picnic with activist-comedian Mark Thomas outside New Scotland Yard. This hilarious protest can be seen in new pictures added to their page on this website.
Martial arts temptresses Babes with Blades reveal a range of new costumes which are added to their sassy cabaret act.
You can also draw back the red velvet curtain to view vaudeville cabaret Pigeon and Plum's from Sirkus on Foot - a wild and madcap cabaret extravaganza of the Art of Circus.
Britain's finest balloon modellers Balloonatic have created more of their wonderfully inventive balloon caricatures.
Masters of manipulation Gandini Juggling present new images of their glow juggling and street spectaculars.
Street festival favourite's acrobatic trio Mimbre present their brand new show Until Now. Take a look at this – it is a “must see”.
Classic aerial artist Colette Morrow presents for you to savour her refined and beautifully balanced show.
Ling Chinese Entertainments have added more examples of their dancers, lions and dragons. This act is something to get your teeth into, dragon us all out of our misery – no lion, honest!!
Hoop La La have some fabulous new images of the Hula Heros.
Lilli and Sara compel us to look up to them with their acrobatics and aerial feats.
And saving the best 'til last, magnificent walkabout and stilt artiste Mark Tate has changed his company name to Mark Tate's Screaming Me Me's to encompass all of his wonderful creations. He was terrific before, but this show takes it all to another dimension of fabulousness!
The delightful and captivating Hodman Dodmanott and Sally Forth, are a wee pair of wonderful wanderers from the proud country of Oblivia, where there is no tax, only ice cream and everyone hugs their neighbour.
Despite being completely oblivious of reality (and proud of it), Hodman and Sally will innocently attempt to explain the new and baffling world around them. Children on parents' shoulders become jockeys riding slow-witted beasts of burden, whilst people with cameras are seen as sorcerers bent on capturing the souls of others. The effect of meeting this unique and memorable couple is often described as 'spellbinding'- with people of all ages becoming utterly enchanted by the ingenious illusion and witty personalities of the two characters. A totally heart-warming and magical walkabout performance.
If that was not enough puppetry mayhem for you, they also bring you Pongo - inquisitive, affectionate, adorable and cheeky; the world's only eight-foot baby Obobee bird. This playful hatchling is accompanied by eccentric pet shop owner Bill Oddity, an inter-dimensional travelling salesman with a menagerie of the galaxy's most extraordinary creatures with a sales technique that is out of this world!
Small Print Gain mentions in the Missing Link newsletter by keeping us up to date with your latest news, reviews, acts, antics, costumes, ideas, appearances, pictures, plans and gossip. Keep us up to date and your pictures and get seen by thousands. Any information you would like to share with other performers may also be included, though we try not to publicise forthcoming gigs for obvious reasons.
