Sirkus on Foot
Sirkus on Foot create creatures to amaze. Walkabout puppets, workshops, stilt walkers and character interaction for every occasion...
The ancient grandmaster storyteller walks the land in search of stories to tell and tales to listen to. This 700 year old stands at a grand 7 foot. His eccentric tales of adventure will have families and children of all ages in stitches as he stumbles and bumbles his way through classic fairytales. The puppet is a completely original design and hand-made by the puppeteer to the highest quality. Perfect for parades or family pageants, or as part of the larger "Teller's House" story-telling puppet show.
Comedy Solo Walkabout. Some serious nautical nonsense. The legendary salted sea dog Captain Ramsey has docked his good ship "Picasso's Thong" in your port and he is looking for a tavern to frequent. He tells tales of the high sea and he sings shanties in the low "F" (that's as good as it gets folks). He tells of the legend of the great ocean journeys while accompanied by classic maritime reels as "Moby Dick" by Led Zeppelin, "Sailing" by Rod Stewart and "The Sponge Bob theme song" to name but a few ancient classics. And as the Captain serenades the grannies with his rendition of the classic sailor song "The Love Boat" he is shore to bring a hearty chortle and a beaming smile to the weather beaten cheeks of any family, student, or festival audience. He is accompanied on his travels by his pet seagull "Jonathan the Goth", who perches on his shoulder and has anger management issues as well as the entire back catalogue of E.L.O. An hilarious maritime walkabout perfect for any event, and any season.
Dante Palento is far from Venice! This crazy Italian is the world's only Roller Skating Gondolier. He can (almost) glide through shopping malls, on his MaMa’s old skates. Listen, as the romantic atmosphere of Venice fills your senses as Dante lets loose with his screeching operatic lungs, bringing songs of love (and despair) to the unsuspecting public. The Gondo-leer is the latest creation from Belfast’s Sirkusonfoot. A proven crowd pleaser, he can charm the ladies and baffle the pets, with great physical clowning and his attempts to give anyone who wants, a romantic piggyback!
A Copper Gent
A living statue that interacts and entertains by the smallest gesture, the tip of his hat or the wink of an eye. A simple wave can have people smiling and giggling. "The Gent" will act and react with any audience, be it a street filled with families and busy shoppers, to any type of formal function or corporate event. The shining bronze statue will bring any crowd to a stand-still. His silence and gentle comedy is infectious to all ages. A great success at the Edinburgh Festival 2003.
The Great Croissant
This insane bumbling French ringmaster is a great crowd puller. Dressed in his trademark whiter than white pin stripe suit and top hat, black cape and tacky illusions, he is perfect for carnivals and parades. If his outrageous French accent doesn't have you crying with laughter, his terrible jokes and truly awful magic tricks will not fail. This character can be adapted for both corporate events as a meet and greet or as a children's walkabout character.
The Big Yin
A bonny big laddy standing at 9 feet tall, the Big Yin looks and sounds spookily like a certain Scottish comedian! With his frizzy ginger locks and beard he can keep a crowd entertained with his raw Caledonian banter. In his trademark ruffles and tartan trousers, he is perfect for any seasonal event, especially Hogmanay.
The Grim Reaper
This is death warmed up in the true sense. Towering over his public at a spine-chilling 10 feet tall, with giant sickle, "Death" will have you crying... with laughter, as he tells his many tales of failed attempts at drama school and how he was picked on at Reaper College. This hand-made costume is completely mesmerising with its black, faceless hood and spooky skeleton hands. Perfect for pageants, carnival and Hallowe'en events.
The Ice King
The chill of winter will soon disappear, with the majestic presence of the heart-warming king of cool. A hilarious character with many tales to tell and a breathtaking costume standing at nearly 12 feet high (with icy crown) and dressed in shimmering white. The Ice King is a wonderful interactive character for both children and adults. Perfect for Christmas and autumn/winter pageants.
Bobby Shapiro's Club Tropicana
Solo or Singer + Band (7 performers) Contemporary clown act. Mr. Shapiro is a Las Vegas institution. An act for any season, Bobby even has his Yule Tide Holiday Special that can tour in Theatres, Clubs or on the Streets, in which he has special guest stars, and mouth watering festive recipes. The great Hollywood director Barnum T Firefly is on a street near you and ready for ACTION!! This street performance is fully mobile, the only props used are a director's chair and bullhorn. Barnum hunts the gritty streets searching for the "perfect scene", and when he does, the entire city must come to a halt and everyone within screaming distance becomes a star in his latest epic.
Professional Scarecrow - John Davenport
An hilarious and very surreal family favorite. Gather round and hear the words of wisdom given by the Head Lecturer in Crowology at Sheffield University Prof John Davenport as he teaches the Kids and the Adults what being a scarecrow is all about. A walkabout show that always has the entire family and the crows rolling in the fields, as Davenport "Professional Scarecrow" tries to recruit new students and help expand the public mind as to importance scarecrows play in maintaining the world's economy. A very silly character played in a very serious straight fashion, Davenport will bring smiles to any seasonal event. Ideal for autumn or summer events.
No Place To Hide
Bill Oddie may have made 'twitching' popular, but he has nothing on our man on the street, Bert 'chaff' Finch. You may think you're safe drinking your cup of coffee minding your own business, but check again. The Chaff is on the lookout for even the dullest moments life can offer to mark down in his little notebook. You have been warned!
A double act of Olympic sized stupidity. The Olympiad brothers will turn a simple street or town market in to the leading competitive arena of the world games of any town or city. They use whatever objects are at hand to compete and win in special events such as: "Tossing the Broccolli" Gold 2004. " Wrestling a Tourist" Gold and Silver 2000. "The 100 metre Nervous Breakdown" Gold 2006. Pathetic Athletic is a compact Olympic Games, providing not only the Athletic feats mentioned but also commentary from Ron Pickyouring who keeps the crowd's eyes watering with anticipation until the next event is discovered.
Tulip Ginderhorn, the Cockney Witch
She may be lovely in name but Tulip is far from this in looks. She is famous the world over as the tallest of all witches (10 feet) and has a very distinctive 3 feet tall hat. Her manners are terrible, she has a voice like a foghorn and she loves teasing people and trying to recruit children as junior witches and warlocks. Despite all these faults, the public still loves her and laughter and screams are never far away from Miss Ginderhorn.
Sirkus on Foot are also available for puppet workshops.
Pigeon & Plum's
Events such as Victorian Music Hall, Vaudeville-Circus Extravaganza. Ladies and Gentlemen! It's time. Don your respective Victorian evening wear, your favourite feather boas, and your top hat and tails, for maestros Pigeon and Plum will be rolling their Vaudeville Carnivale of pleasure wonder and curiousities into your town sooner than you think... So keep your windows ajar at night so you might be the first to hear the distant creaking sound of the Pigeon & Plumwagons as their Carnival of Varieties weaves its way into an empty venue in your quiet unassuming, little concrete metropolis...
Tilda Tigerbalm is a great crowd puller and public curiosity, she is a completely original design. Tilda walks the streets chatting and interacting (in any UK, Irish accent!) with the general public asking the most surreal and inappropriate questions. A gentle pensioner she can banter with the children, gossip with the adults, chat with the animals and charm the plants. She is an "Every" puppet developed by Sirkusonfoot the "Every" puppets reflects all the urban characters found around our modern cities. (There will be more Every Puppets available in the coming year). The Every puppet is perfect for any event be it corporate or family gathering, this type of puppet is a highly skilled art form and can reduce the most cynical person to the joy and illusion of top class professional puppetry. Tilda is a "Half Body" manipulated puppet, and is a unique style of Puppetry. The puppeteer is fully visible to the audience/ public but by utilizing years of manipulation and movement skills the puppeteer can leave the audience drawn to the puppet and not the puppeteer. This style and technique of Puppetry is often seen in Puppetry Theatre's around Europe but rarely is it seen on the streets, especially in the UK.
Aloysius Ginderbalm, Troll.
Aloysius Ginderbalm is a small "Pigmy Troll" from Swedish Origin, he stands at 2ft tall but he is played seated on his little rickety chair and sits at a height of about 1 and half feet high. Kids love this puppet because he is performed at their height, and they tend to be the first to spot him under a bush somewhere. Unlike the pixie puppets he is able to verbally interact with an audience. But he is static.. the crowds tend to find him from his insane ramblings and his awful troll singing. He is a completely original design and his costume and body are hand made by the puppeteer. Children and Adults seem to flock to him at all the big events he has appeared at... due to his high level of banter. He comes with a hide but can also be performed from a bush, he is best suited to the likes of an enchanted event in the evening but he is just a easily adapted to any environment as he can be hired with a hand made hide/ bush for the puppeteer to hide in and where the puppet is performed from.
Paul Currie is a Belfast puppeteer and puppet builder, street performer and clown, with over 15 years puppetry experience.
